God never disappoints

May 17, 2022

We give thanks to God that brave young men continue to surrender their lives to God. Recently a young Peruvian named René Oscar Machacca gave himself to God with a decision to commit to serving the poor for at least a year.

Two years ago René entered the Vocational Center (similar to a minor seminary) where he was gently introduced little by little to the community life and prayer of a religious community. After having spent a time of discernment at this center, he felt called to seek admission as a postulant with the Missionary Servants of the Poor where he has been admitted as a brother.

Last Saturday he received the scapular habit, the empty cross, and the Imitation of Christ (our spiritual rule) at the feet of our Mother as living signs of the charism of the Missionary Servants of the Poor. With the delivery and reception of these signs, he commits himself for a year of service to the poor.

God has been doing beautiful things in his life. One of them is that, because of his surrender and total dedication to God, his family has turned their eyes to God. It is beautiful to see how they come together every Sunday to Mass! God definitely doesn’t disappoint. God makes us truly happy and gives us a hundredfold in comparison to the trivialities that the world offers.

We ask you to pray for him that he perservere and spends a beautiful year in the service of all these poor boys and people who live in the most distant villages of the Andes.
