Saint Teresa Home: For years a refuge for the poorest

SET 5, 2024

The Saint Teresa Home of our Sisters welcomes completely abandoned handicapped children. Often they have been evicted by hospitals and our Sisters allow them to have a dignified life, surrounded with love and care. That is why Father Giovanni spoke of this place as the heart of the Movement, because it is the place where the suffering Jesus is made present.

In fact, this place perfectly illustrates the Bible passage that our founder chose as an example for us: "Despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrow, accustomed to infirmity, one from whom men hide their faces, spurned, and we held him in no esteem" (Is 53:3).

Each Missionary Servant of the Poor, when making temporary vows, receives a statue of the “Christ of the Reed” and a Cross with the quote from Matthew 25:40: “And the King will say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, whatever you did to one of the least of these brothers, you did to me.’"

Our Sisters, following the example of this Biblical quote, carry out this beautiful work of charity with self-sacrifice and love towards these abandoned children. They see Jesus in these suffering children.
