This Wednesday, March 5th, marked the beginning of Lent, a time of reflection and spiritual preparation for Easter. At the Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto School, students, teachers, and staff joined in prayer to participate in the traditional Ash Wednesday service.
During the celebration, ashes were placed on the foreheads of those attending as a sign of conversion and renewal of faith. The central message called for a time of humility, prayer, and charity for those most in need.
Lent is a 40-day period during which Christians are invited to renew their relationship with God through penance and charity. It is a time of inner change in which each person has the opportunity to evaluate their lives and grow closer to the Gospel. Ash Wednesday reminds us that life on earth is fleeting and that we must focus on what is truly essential--love for God and neighbor. May this Lent be a time of sincere conversion and commitment to the values of the Gospel, preparing us with a renewed heart for the Resurrection of Christ.
